Welch’s First Marriage
Raquel Welch has been married four times in her life. She first married her high school lover, James Welch, in 1959, and became pregnant barely a year later. Their marriage, however, failed by 1964. Welch has expressed sadness in interviews over the breakdown of her marriage to Welch. The actress has stated that she wishes she had done more to make the marriage work. Her childhood sweetheart, she claims, was the best of her four husbands.

In 1967, Welch married her manager, Patrick Curtis, but the marriage terminated five years later. Welch has since portrayed her relationship with Curtis as miserable, accusing him of manipulation and control. In 1980, the actress married for the third time, to French-American television producer and journalist André Weinfeld. Welch and Weinfeld had a longer relationship than her previous two marriages, lasting ten years before splitting up in 1990.
