Doors to the Past
One look at the entrances to the Giza pyramids reveals that there was once a door. The doors, like the rest of the pyramids, were feats of engineering. To keep intruders out of the pyramid’s inside, the door had to be quite heavy – many tons in fact. When necessary, how did it move? According to the evidence, the door was coupled to a hinge that made opening and shutting simple. That is incredible!
Ancient Air Conditioning
We noticed how complicated the pyramids are as we learnt more about them. As it turns out, ancient Egyptian culture was quite advanced for its time, and we’re only now learning more about it. The pyramids’ construction shows some fascinating examples. The first is a technique that uses a ball and socket to prevent seismic damage. Another example is how they kept the internal temperature of the pyramids at roughly 20°C (68°F) to prevent heat from entering.
