Why Not More?

Another frequently posed topic is why there aren’t more pyramids beyond the few that we know about. The Egyptian Kingdom lasted several millennia and had countless rulers, so why did they generate only about 80 in total? The truth is that pyramids were mostly built during the Old Kingdom period. The Middle Kingdom saw a significant reduction in pyramid construction, with none built at all during the New Kingdom, when pharaohs were buried in the “valley of the kings.” We appeared to have learned everything there was to know about these old monuments at this point. The Void

A unexplained vacuum was discovered in the center of the Great Pyramid in 2017. This was the most significant structural discovery since the foundational excavations of the 1800s. The hole was over a hundred feet long and was located exactly beneath what was assumed to be the queen’s chamber within the pyramid. “This is definitely the discovery of the century,” archaeologist and Egyptologist Yukinori Kawae told National Geographic. “There have been many hypotheses about the pyramid, but no one even imagined that such a big void is located above the Grand Gallery.”
