He didn’t want to be in Walmart for any longer than necessary that day. Children moaned as their tired mothers pushed them listlessly, while unpleasant adults rode their shopping carts into the back of Patrick’s heels. It was past time to leave. He pushed his few supplies to the checkout line and waited to be served, never expecting this minor gesture to wreck his day.
