Great With Photos
Raquel Welch was greatly undervalued by some in Hollywood due to her striking good looks. When she starred in the 1967 British spy film Fathom, cast and crew members frequently questioned her intelligence. Welch herself described her part in Fathom as “a blown-up Barbie Doll,” because she was cast primarily for her stunning attractiveness. Many films of the period did not have well-developed female parts. Welch was “born to be photographed.” according to a Los Angeles Times film critic.
Smitten by Sinatra
In 1967, Welch co-starred with Peter Cook and Dudley Moore in Stanley Donen’s comedy Bedazzled, in which she played and embodied the deadly sin Lillian Lust. She starred in Bandolero in 1968 and much loved her role because it was not like the stereotyped bimbo roles she had previously landed. Welch has appeared in films alongside James Stewart, Frank Sinatra, and Dean Martin, among others. In fact, she was so taken by Sinatra that she forgot to perform on occasion!
