A Kind Student
Raquel is clearly much more than her appearance! Raquel was a student, just like everybody else, before the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, and she excelled in her studies. Welch was an honor roll student who received a scholarship at the University of San Diego to study drama. She was also active in her school’s extracurricular activities, particularly cheerleading. Whatever Raquel touches seemed to turn to gold!
A Good Student
Miss Photogenic
Welch studied ballet for ten years before quitting when she was seventeen. Unfortunately, her dancing teacher informed her that she lacked the proper body shape for ballet. Regardless, Welch was a stunning young lady who had already won a number of beauty pageants. Welch won Miss Photogenic and Miss Contour at the age of 14. While in high school, she was crowned Miss La Jolla and Miss San Diego. Welch went on to become Maid of California after winning many titles.
