Several months previously, shortly after Timo turned nine, the incident had begun. Teresa became concerned when she observed that he was reacting to her less and less frequently as time went on. At first, she assumed he was simply transitioning into a period in which he was neglecting her more. Things, on the other hand, just got worse.

Timothy had never been a particularly social child as a child. His preference for being alone at the playground had existed since he was a toddler, as opposed to playing with the other youngsters. As he grew older, he spent a lot of time gaming in front of the television, his ears protected by a soundproof headset, and watching movies. He only responded when Teresa tapped him on the shoulder, which was a rare occurrence.
