A Multi-Sided View
A conventional pyramid has four sides. However, if you look closely at the Great Pyramid of Giza, you will notice that each of its four sides has an indent in the middle, making it truly comprised of eight smaller sides. This phenomenon can only be observed from the air and during specific times of day. It is unknown whether this was a planned aspect of the building to promote stability, if this indent appeared over time, or if it is merely a design defect. However, one truth remains: the Great Pyramid of Giza continues to attract researchers and tourists worldwide.

The Giza pyramids are particularly remarkable since the entire complex is located on the western bank of the Nile River. This was not a coincidence – why would the Egyptians chose this location over all others? It could be a very simple and practical cause – ancient Egyptian civilization just needed to be near water to exist. Egypt is known as “the gift of the Nile” because the empire relied significantly on the river for transportation and fruitful harvests.
