Close Bond
Thomas and Zachary watched after each other at the start of their lives. They enjoyed themselves after school by playing together. They had a deep bond, which helped them deal with the pressures from their father. Archie always expected the best from his sons. He would use one boy’s accomplishment to make the other feel awful about himself, and the sons became preoccupied with making their father proud, no matter how tough it looked. This would only intensify as they became older.
Teenage Years
When the boys entered high school, they began assisting their father at his store. Archie had founded a successful grocery shop chain in Boise. He continued to work at the main store, expecting his children to work with him and eventually take over the firm. Thomas began working behind the counter and in the warehouse at the age of 14 and learned valuable skills. He began to despise the store, however. This was not what Thomas had in mind. He wasn’t sure what his calling was, but he knew it wasn’t to own a grocery store chain. Then, when he was 16, he realized what he wanted to do.
