Young Woman
With tears running down her cheeks, the receptionist looked up at the woman. Her hands were on her stomach, and she appeared terrified. The receptionist gently advised her to wait and that she would contact a nurse. The young lady nodded before quietly passing an envelope across the desk to the receptionist, who grabbed it with suspicion. She was led to a room and asked to wait. When Dr. Collins entered the room, the tears began to flow again as she rambled on about her pregnancy and the need for assistance. Thomas raised his hand to stop her. She gazed at him, not knowing what he was going to say next.
No Time for Her
“I’m sorry, ma’am, but the nurse informed me that there is no insurance attached, and you refuse to provide us with additional payment information.” “There’s nothing I can do for you right now,” Thomas stated firmly. He then turned around and went out of the room, not looking back at the woman. She started sobbing, gathered her belongings, and walked back the way she came. The receptionist hated the doctor as she watched her leave. She went to find him, ready to tell him what was on her mind, but he merely said he didn’t want to hear it. He had no idea that this would not be the last time he saw her.
