Jennifer Grey

Numerous people predicted that Jennifer Grey’s roles in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Dirty Dancing would pave the way for a successful film and television career. She had one of the most recognizable looks of the 1980s, but if you saw her today, you’d be hard-pressed to tell she was the same person. Grey was well-known for having a prominent nose, which isn’t something that many people are particularly proud of. When her acting career began to wane in the early 1990s, she decided to get a nose job in the hopes of attracting the attention of casting directors and producers. When she underwent plastic surgery, she became unrecognizably different, effectively wiping away all of her acting credits in the process. It was the nose job from hell, as Grey once described it. “I’ll always be known as that once-famous actress who no longer exists due to a nose job,” she says.

Wesley Snipes

In addition to his renowned appearances in White Men Can’t Jump and the Blade trilogy, Wesley Snipes was considered an “A-List Celebrity.” He had reached the summit of the Hollywood mountain when he made a career-altering mistake: he failed to pay his taxes on time. Due to the severity of Snipes’ tax crimes, the actor ended up serving a prison sentence. For three years, he was found guilty of willfully failing to file his taxes and sentenced to serve one year in prison for each year he failed to do so. Three years in prison seems insignificant when compared to the $17 million in taxes and penalties that will be collected. Because it’s extremely difficult to produce a Blade sequel while in prison, his tax violation effectively put an end to his film career. Let this serve as a warning to all aspiring actors and actresses: if you want a successful career, don’t try to get around the Internal Revenue Service.
