Returning To The Miracle Worker As Anne Sullivan
After winning the Academy Award for Best Actress, Patty Duke wasn’t done with The Miracle Worker. She returned to the narrative in 1979, but this time did not play Helen Keller. Instead, Duke stepped into the position of Keller’s teacher, Anne Sullivan, who had a profound impact on her life. Duke received an Emmy for her act as the miracle worker a year after the made-for-television picture was produced. She then directed a staging of the play in 2011.
Patty Dukes Odd Connection With The Flintstones
You could recognize the opening theme as something from The Flintstones if you’ve ever watched The Patty Duke Show. That’s because both themes were written by the Skip-Jacks, a singing group. They may not be well-known, but “Flintstones, meet the Flinstones…” is a song that almost everyone can sing along to. The Patty Duke Show, ironically, begins similarly, with “Meet Cathy…” The Skip-Jacks seemed to have a theme song formula that they didn’t want to stray too far from!
