Anthony reportedly wrote and illustrated several of them in the 1970s, but they were never published because readers didn’t like his drawing style. Fortunately, once Bourdain had a solid reputation, he was able to gain attention for his passion for comic books. Together, he and Karen Berger published “Get Jiro! as well as “Hungry Ghosts.”

The darker plotlines of Anthony Bourdain’s graphic novels are said to have drawn Karen Berger to him. Therefore, it may not come as a huge surprise that the chef also wrote more conventional crime thriller novels. The first of these was titled “A Bone in the Throat,” and it was about a chef in the seedy side of Little Italy. The fact that Bourdain published additional books like “Gone Bamboo” and “The Bobby Gold Stories” shows that he wasn’t a one-hit wonder and that he had real talent across a variety of fields. Although he was well-liked as a chef, Anthony was also a talented author of intriguing books.
