Mark offered Oliver a rock, but when he examined it, it did not emit any light. When Oliver questioned Mark about his relationship to the stone, Mark provided fabricated responses. Oliver eventually realized that something was wrong.

Because Oliver’s genuine stone was too large, Mark handed him a counterfeit rock to force him to leave. To make matters worse, it appeared to be inexpensive as well. After tossing a rock in Oliver’s direction and having it return to him, Mark realized he was wasting his energy deceitfully attempting to dupe Oliver.
