The police did not want to be called until there was evidence of theft. Nonetheless, Oliver requested that they be informed. This appeared to be the only way for the insurance company to cover the loss. The female caller was not pleased, but she promised Oliver that officers would be despatched.

A police officer arrived 30 minutes after the initial contact. There was only one law enforcement officer inside the law enforcement car. Oliver dashed outside to inform him of the situation. He looked to be thinking about it before he came in.
