“Perhaps he needed the money for something else,” Patrick reasoned. His anxiety relaxed as he realized the man would pay with a credit card. He would soon discover how mistaken he was. For a brief moment, he felt sorry for him. Perhaps he was piling up debt to feed his family, and these extravagances were only a gift for them. The man then took a card from his wallet. It was not a credit card.

He gave the cashier the card. She looked surprised and gave Patrick another strange look; what was going on? He couldn’t figure out what was wrong. Then he discovered the man’s credit card, which he had just used to pay the astounding $800. His blood began to boil at that point.
