J. Crew

Nowadays, J.Crew often seems to cause a stir. The company began to shut down six stores in January 2020, following the loss of its CEO by the end of 2018. The closures appear to be part of an existing plan to shut down 30 outlets. Last summer, this proposal was released. The precise number of places to close to meet their goals is, however, still uncertain.

Kohl’s

Kohl plans to close down four of its stores, either within or outside malls, by 2020, to escape the same challenges as other retailers had situated near or inside malls. The retailer said these shops were “lower-performing” and that employees from these stores were given either severance pay or a job in another Kohl’s store. But the closing is more of a means than an immediate need to avert any catastrophe. By opening four smaller shops, the company will continue to maintain the same number.
