At one point, Jamie was unable to suppress her laughter any longer. He simply needed to come honest about the situation, and he joked with Ben that he had entered his house without his knowledge because he was suspicious that his wife was having an affair with another man. Ben’s expression changed to one of surprise, and he took a brief pause.

Right away, he absolved Jamie of any wrongdoing for having suspicions about him. The fact that he did not hesitate to do so is not simply an indication of his commitment and friendship on his part. Although he did not believe Jamie’s suspicions, he did explain to him how his wife had evolved over the course of their marriage. He gave Jamie his word that he would assist him in figuring it out, and he informed him that he already knew where to look for her.
