John Chapman, also known as Johnny Appleseed, was a pioneer nurseryman who spread apple trees across several states after his birth in Massachusetts in 1774. Don’t be fooled by the photo; he also had a reputation for extreme kindness and became a living legend for it. Timeframe for this image is from the 1840s.
