James K. Polk
It’s possible that the 11th president of the United States, James K. Polk (born in 1795), is not as well remembered as he should be, but his administration accomplished a great deal. He accomplished all of his goals, which included acquiring three new territories for the United States, ending a border dispute between Texas and another state, reducing tariffs, and bolstering the power of the executive branch.
