Josephine Baker and Jo Bouillon
Josephine Baker made history as the first African American woman to appear in a major motion picture in 1927. Baker was not only a talented actor, but also a stunning dancer. This American-born French performer married orchestra chief Jo Bouillon in 1937. Following their romantic wedding in a small French village, the young couple traveled to Buenos Aires, Argentina, for their honeymoon. And, let’s face it, BA is essentially the Paris of South America, so they kept everything elegant. Above, the couple poses for the camera, with Baker smiling broadly as she dines with her husband at an Argentinian luxury hotel.
Tallulah Bankhead and John Emery
Tallulah Bankhead, an American actress, rose to stardom in the 1920s. Her colorful lifestyle and fascinating theatrical performances contributed significantly to her success. Bankhead went on to star in major Hollywood pictures, including Alfred Hitchcock’s “Lifeboat.” In 1937, the stunning young actress married Broadway actor and director John Emery at her father’s Alabama house. For their honeymoon, the young couple flew to the lovely seaside town of Norwalk, Connecticut. It may not be the most unique area in the world, but it is certainly gorgeous.
