Teresa had hoped to notice a difference in Timothy’s level of responsiveness now that the headset had been all but banned from the office. Although Teresa was extremely cautious about using the headset, this was unfortunately not the case. Timo’s difficulties seemed to be becoming worse rather than better. Teresa began to notice it in everything she encountered. It seemed as though Timo was always listening in on the microphone through the headset. Teresa wasn’t the only one who had noticed it until now.

When Timothy’s schoolteachers became aware of his developing difficulties in class, they began to contact Teresa for assistance. They were initially concerned that he was preoccupied or disobeying orders, but as time went on, they became more concerned. Timo’s English instructor, in particular, expressed concern to Teresa about the possibility that he was losing his hearing. She also had an interesting notion about why this was happening…
