It appears that Wayne had other plans in mind. His underground cellar was primarily used for storing wine. His hideaway was designed to look like a cellar.

Not A Regular Wine Cellar
Not only can I store Wayne’s collection of wine in his 20-foot container, but also a wide variety of other items as well. This is the best feature of Wayne’s container. In addition to providing shelter in the event of an earthquake or other natural disaster, the cellar that Wayne had constructed could be used to store holiday decorations, non-perishable food items, and other necessities in the event of an emergency.
