The scale sizes of small squids and large squids are drastically different. Women can grow to be 60 feet long, while men can grow to be 43 feet long, making them the largest of the three species. Possibly even more astonishing, in 2004, the first live photographs of a huge squid in its natural environment were captured.

Whatever the reason for our awe, whether it was because of James Cameron’s blockbuster film recreating the events or because of the Titanic’s historical significance, we have all been taken aback by the ship’s massive size. One thing that we seem to forget is how much the earth has expanded in size since 1912. It appears as though the Titanic is no more than a dinghy in comparison to a modern-day cruise ship.
