However, tourists aren’t the only ones that travel to Arizona in order to witness the Grand Canyon in its natural state. Since 1858, the region has been visited on numerous occasions by scientists who have been drawn to the ravine’s interesting geology – scientists such as Krill, among others – to study it. And it is because of these professionals that we have a tremendous deal of knowledge about the canyon. Some sources claim that its walls contain no fewer than 13 different varieties of rock, which is quite impressive.

Isis Temple
Today, several of these rocks are among the most well-known features of the Grand Canyon, appearing prominently in innumerable tourist photographs taken throughout the year. For example, the outcrop known as Isis Temple, located along the northern rim, rises to a height of around 7,000 feet above sea level. In the meantime, there’s a section of the Colorado River known as the Granite Gorge, which cradles it as it passes through the fissure.
