Two Billion Years In The Making
Remember, the Grand Canyon has been narrating tales for thousands of years, long before Krill was even born. There are about two billion years worth of history in it, dating back to a time when the Earth looked substantially different from the way it does today. Gradually, the supercontinents began to shift, and the landscape of what is now Arizona began to take shape. It’s possible that Krill’s special boulder appeared around that time as well.

The Ravine Takes Form
Compressive forces and extremely high temperatures led metamorphic and igneous rocks to form in the region that would eventually become the Grand Canyon. Later, sedimentary layers were deposited, each of which preserved a specific period in the region’s history that can still be deciphered by modern geologists today. However, it wasn’t until the end of the Cretaceous Period that the ravine began to take shape in its current form.
