Producers of The Patty Duke Show came close to persuading Bette Davis to make a guest appearance on the show during its heyday. Davis had a double role in Dead Ringer in 1964, and the filmmakers believed a cameo from her would be a great tongue-in-cheek comedy. Unfortunately, the invited guest did not show up. Despite the fact that it would have been a minor role, Davis demanded a fee that the producers were willing to give.
