Sometimes it was just the buzz of seeing people’s reactions. He acknowledged that a family vacation to France had an impact on this in a Guardian interview. Apparently, while eating inside La Pyramide, Bourdain’s parents once left him and his brother in their car outside. He reportedly retaliated by ordering oysters and other disgusting dishes as a result. According to reports, even if not always for the best reasons, it encouraged him to be more daring with his tastes.

Chris Collins, who collaborated with Bourdain on a number of different shows, revealed that Anthony was shy and didn’t interact with the crew very much.
