An Act of Compassion
Lily’s hands were freezing, but she didn’t care. These “puppies” needed warmth. Their tiny bodies trembled, and she could feel how thin they were beneath their fur. The sight of them tugged at her heartstrings. How could anyone abandon such helpless creatures? Without a second thought, she zipped them into her coat, letting their tiny noses peek out. “Don’t worry,” she whispered, “I’ll take care of you.” She headed home, thinking only of their safety.
Sneaking Them Inside
When Lily reached her house, she hesitated outside the front door. Her parents didn’t allow pets, and she wasn’t sure how they’d react to a bunch of stray puppies. But it was too cold to leave them outside, and they seemed so hungry and fragile. Determined, she tiptoed inside, careful not to make noise. She snuck the “puppies” up to her room, where she laid them down on a pile of blankets near her bed.
