If she remained in the marriage, she would be subjected to suspicion and conspiracies on a regular basis. Her children would see as their parents gradually became antagonistic toward one another and could tell that the state of their relationship was worsening. Because of that, she got stuck at a fork in the road. But one thing could not be denied. Her husband would be held accountable for the harm he had caused to both her and their children as a result of the things he had done.

The sole obstacle that Caitlin was unable to overcome was the unpredictability. Greg had made several attempts to get in touch with her and beseeched her for forgiveness. And she desired to hand it over to him with every fiber of her being. But at that particular moment in time, she simply was unable to pull it off. She was incapable of even beginning to talk to herself about forgiving the person, let alone doing the actions necessary to make it happen.
