Her great-grandmother Kamei smiled for the camera in the community of Hanapepe in Kuai, Hawaii. She posed in front of the United Church of Christ, which is the church she was a member at. “What’s really special about it is she’s there,” Shannon stated. “Her ashes, her remains are in the back of the church there, so it was like visiting her again.”

Shannon wanted to honor her great-grandmother’s memory by going to visit the church that was so close to her heart. She loved the muumuu and she loved the church even more, so Shannon decided to go visit the church one day while wearing her great-grandmother’s beloved dress.
