The fox was never going to just walk onboard, so the pals needed to devise a strategy to convince the fox to join them. They extended their arms in greeting, but it bolted. It clearly had nowhere to go and stared blankly at the folks attempting to save it. They wouldn’t leave until they’d done everything they could to aid, and it wouldn’t join them.

A Waiting Game
They were really kind to the fox. Despite its lack of interest in joining Cliff, Mallory, and Allan, they waited. Just as the three were about to leave, the fox took its first steps towards the boat. Would it, however, jump? Perhaps it realized that humans were his only hope for safety.
