A Cautious Approach
They approached the iceberg with caution, not knowing what they were up against, and remained in the boat. For starters, they had no idea what kind of animal they were approaching, but they were also veering off course and preparing to walk into unknown territory. Allan was adamant that they were doing the right thing morally. Mallory and Cliff were less sure, but both agreed that the situation needed to be looked into. An animal in distress required assistance. It would undoubtedly perish if they did nothing.
Further Movement
The group moved slowly through the water, keeping an eye out for potential hazards. Large amounts of floating ice could cause harm to the boat. Leaving them stranded would benefit no one, especially this unfortunate animal. To make matters worse, the waves had increased in size. Mallory warned the group that they needed to be extremely cautious going forward. Despite the excitement, the situation was perilous and explosive.
