Raquel was glad for her great profession, but she wasn’t thrilled with the fact that she was largely renowned for her beauty. “I had all these ideas and ambitions percolating inside, but nobody wanted to hear them,” the actress said. When I tried to talk to directors, they would say, ‘Could you please not think and have no ideas?’ It seemed like doors were closing around my spirit.”

Despite her dissatisfaction with becoming a beauty icon, Raquel never saw herself as a victim. “I hate carrying on about how the image victimized me because I don’t really think it’s true, I think that I played along with that in order to get a break.” the legend once said. “I tried a number of different approaches, and that’s how the break happened… And it ended up working far too well. I had entrapped myself.”
