The Original Kill Bill
Women continue to compete for starring roles in films of all genres. Raquel Welch, on the other hand, was one of the first and only actresses to play the lead in a Western. Welch starred in the 1971 British film Hannie Caulder as a frontier woman turned gunfighter. Quentin Tarantino, the acclaimed director, has stated that Hannie Caulder was one of his inspirations for the 2003 martial arts film Kill Bill. We might not have had Uma Thurman in a yellow latex jumpsuit holding a sword if it hadn’t been for Raquel Welch.
Working With Salvador Dali
Salvador Dali, the iconic painter, was commissioned by 20th Century Fox to produce a picture inspired by Raquel to promote her new film Fantastic Voyage. The painting session was videotaped and released in 1965 as Salvador Dali’s Fantastic Dream. That same year, Salvador painted another picture named Fantastic Voyage, although he’s never stated whether or not the two pieces of art are connected.
