Bridgerton
Status: Renewed
Network: Netflix
Est. Cost: $100 million per season*
Bridgerton was another major hit for Netflix. The period drama, based on Julia Quinn’s best-selling novels, was part of Shonda Rhimes’ $100 million pact with the streaming platform. Rhimes created the show, which has now gone viral on social media. People enjoy the show, so it’s no surprise that Netflix has announced that it will be renewed for a third season. Bridgerton is set in England during the Regency period (1811-1820) and follows the eight Bridgerton family siblings as they struggle to find love.
Ozark
Status: Canceled
Network: Netflix
Est. Cost: $9 million per episode*
Following two critically lauded seasons of Ozark, Netflix quickly renewed the blockbuster drama for a third season, which will premiere in 2020. The producers had anticipated a total of five seasons for the massive crime-focused drama, stating they’d “always talked about it as five seasons” from the start. Unfortunately, things did not proceed as planned. Netflix renewed the show for a fourth and final season, disappointing viewers and critics who hoped to spend more time with the Byrde family. The streaming giant did not provide an official reason for the cancellation, but it’s possible that the showrunners simply wanted to end on a high note.
