All Eyes on Violet
Within the S.S. Every eye on the Aurora’s observation deck was glued to the displays. The tiny, lit dot that stood in for Violet’s jet proceeded slowly in the direction of the enormous, unidentified object. Even the ship’s janitors and other personnel showed up there, joining in the anticipation. Everyone clung to what little hope they had left, quietly encouraging Violet to go further and wishing for her safe return.
A Breath Before the Storm
Uncertainty tore at Violet’s mind as the hazy cloud enclosing the object grew closer. The unsettling mist appeared to be nearly sentient and beckoned her to explore it. She closed her eyes briefly while keeping her fingers firmly on the controls. She centered herself and took a deep, slow breath to brace herself for whatever lay ahead. The unknown was a formidable foe, but she was more prepared and more determined.
