The Direct Command
In the midst of the deafening quiet, a strange voice cracked over the ship’s radio, sounding oddly calm. The crew’s general disquiet increased when the command center said, “Aurora, this is the Command Center. We need an immediate and close reconnaissance of the unidentified object. Dispatch a jet.” There were many rumors and whispers regarding the potential candidate. It was a significant choice, and the chosen pilot would be faced with forging forth into the unknown.
Violet’s Unforeseen Mission
The instant Commander Ryker’s eyes landed on Violet’s, her heart began to race. She blinked in astonishment. “Violet,” he said, his voice somber, “you’re our best. We need you.” She had been chosen by hand out of all the pilots. Violet forced a deep swallow as her disbelief rapidly gave way to resolve. She nodded as the burden of her purpose subsided. She would approach this riddle and face the terrifying unknown, saying, “Understood, Commander.”
