As they started to move closer to the iceberg, they got a good look at the animal. They noticed that it looked a lot like a dog and stood on four legs as well. However, they knew that this was no puppy. After all, there was no way for something like that to get up there.

They could see that the animal, whatever it was, had been shivering and soaking. They decided to move faster if they wanted to get the creature to safety. They needed to make sure that it was not going to freeze to death. They did this even though they knew it was going to make things more dangerous.
