If you could define “happiness” with a photograph, this would undoubtedly be it. However, it did not fully portray the years that these two newlyweds would spend together. Martha O’Driscoll and her first husband, Lieutenant Commander Richard D. Adams, enjoyed a great honeymoon after marrying in 1943. And this photograph was shot shortly after. Unfortunately, their love would only survive ten months, with Adams’ engagement in World War II forcing their divorce proceedings to be postponed. Even though Adams refused to agree to the divorce, O’Driscoll finally got her way in 1947.

A picture of newlyweds holding hands has never looked more touching. Billie Dove, a Hollywood celebrity, and real estate entrepreneur Robert Kenaston were photographed enjoying an intimate time together during their honeymoon, just days after they married. They stayed at the Desert Inn in Palm Springs, CA. Dove had finished her final picture “Blondie of the Follies” and was eager to get back to her personal life. And it was a wise decision, as Dove and Kenaston would have 35 happy years of marriage together before the latter died in 1970. The couple is survived by their son, Robert Alan Kenaston Jr.
