In front of the woman, she extended her hand while feigning a smile. Mary hoped the woman would just comply when she asked if she may have the note back. She was, however, obviously uneasy. Much more cautious than when she originally took the note off the floor.

She questioned Mary face-to-face what this message was specifically for and where she had obtained it. Mary explained to the woman that she had obtained it from a homeless guy who was sitting outside the building since she saw no reason to lie about it.
