As Emma approached, Sarah looked up and greeted her with a smile. Slowly, Emma began explaining the situation, taking care with her words. With a mixture of disbelief and courage, she took a deep breath and finally asked, “Could you do me a favor and watch Lily for a few hours?”

Back in the apartment
Much to Sarah’s surprise, a warm smile crossed her face as she nodded in agreement. She gracefully rose to her feet and accompanied Emma to her front door. Lily, seemingly unfazed by her mother’s arrival with an unfamiliar woman, displayed no immediate reaction. Though Sarah had been in Lily’s presence before, Emma couldn’t be certain if the young girl had recognized her.
