Teresa felt as if she had been betrayed. Wasn’t Bjorn ever concerned about anyone other than himself? This wasn’t precisely something you should have kept hidden from the mother of his child, but it was necessary. The fact that it had taken him this long to inform her was beyond her comprehension. As she tried to calm herself down, she shouted out, “Bjorn, why didn’t you bring this up before?”

For a brief while, Bjorn was dumbfounded, but he quickly recovered and proceeded to explain himself. With all of his efforts to avoid the subject for all these years, he had sincerely believed that perhaps he would never be forced to confront it, and thus that he would never truly suffer from the consequences of abandoning Timo any more than he already did. The doctor cleared his throat, suggesting to the two of them to postpone their talk until a more private moment was available.
