Because few individuals were aware that the Austin School District was selling these automobiles, there were few bidders. Talley scored the deal of the century when he paid $2,200 for the bus, which is less than the cost of a used automobile. Most people would have bought more than one bus for that amount, but Talley was perfectly happy with one. He couldn’t believe how cheap the bus was and was excited to continue his tour.
