A Crowd Gathers
As they neared the park entrance, Jack saw a group of people gathered around something on the ground. As they got closer, he saw that it was a man lying there, unconscious. A paramedic was trying to revive him, but it didn’t look good. Jack’s dad quickly ushered him away from the scene, but Jack couldn’t get the image out of his mind.

The Explanation
When they got home, Jack’s dad sat him down and explained what had happened. There had been a robbery at a nearby store, and the suspect had fled into the park. The police had caught him, but not before he had injured someone in a scuffle. The man they had seen on the ground was the victim.
