24. Wear your extra luggage
Pros: More space in your suitcase
What you need: Extra clothes
Cost: Free
Instead of caving in and checking an additional bag when there are only a few necessities inside, consider other options. Nobody wants to pay more money to check an additional bag. If you can, put on your bulkiest items of clothing and wear them to the airport. Once you pass security, you can always remove it if it becomes too uncomfortable. This works as well if you’re worried about the weight of your hand luggage but yet want to travel light. Simply put the jacket on during security checks and tuck it later into your luggage. It seems obvious.
25. Wrap your luggage or bag handle
Pros: No more standing at baggage claim wondering what’s yours
What you need: A bright scarf/tie
Cost: $5/Free if you already own one*
The last thing you want to do is spend a lot of time playing spot the bag at baggage claim after spending the last ten hours on a journey and are about to pass out at your hotel. The task is considerably more difficult if you have chosen generic black baggage. There is a simple small tip that will expedite the delivery of your baggage to you. Simply fasten a scarf, tie, or other piece of material to the handle in a vibrant color. Before you can say “lost and found,” you’ll be able to see it from a mile away and be in that taxi on your way to your destination.
