He Felt Hopeless
After that meeting, Benny felt lost and returned home. He needed to provide for his family, and he wasn’t sure he could start a new career immediately away. But, he made the decision to conceal his unemployment for a while so that he would have time to develop a backup strategy. It was common knowledge among Benny and his coworkers that their boss still had some money. But, his lawyer found a hole that let their employer to declare bankruptcy. This brought them more unfavorable information. You see, if a business files for bankruptcy, the owner is no longer required to pay the employees’ last salaries. Without separation pay, none of them would have enough money to fall back on while looking for new work.
It Was Unjust
Benny received some news that evening that infuriated him. After the meeting, the boss reportedly managed to sell a very costly car. Even if he was able to accomplish so by offering a sizable discount, the amount was still significant. The wealthy appeared to just be getting richer. His employer was able to make one last sale that brought him a respectable profit, but he and the rest of the staff had to return to work empty-handed. Life was incredibly unjust.
