Older Than Old?
One popular myth regarding the Sphinx and the pyramids is that they were built before Ancient Egypt existed. Could this be correct? Historians and authors Malcolm Hutton and Gerry Cannon believe the Sphinx dates back at least 12,000 years, because carving the natural rock would have been conceivable at that time. “You can’t carve a rock that’s covered in sand.” “It was about 12,000 years ago when it wasn’t under sand, and the Egyptians weren’t there,” Cannon added. However, unlike the astounding revelation that was soon to follow, this is not a common notion and is not commonly accepted.

We do know that the pyramids were erected using massive stone blocks. One of the reasons the pyramids are still standing today is due to the size and strength of these gigantic slabs. Such massive stones can withstand the destructive forces of both nature and man. The lightest stone weighs two tons, while some are much heavier. Many of them can weigh up to 10, 20, or even 50 tons. Even thinking about it is fantastic!
