Many Egyptologists believe that the pyramids were built on the Nile River’s west bank because that is where the sun sets and the ancient Egyptians regarded it the “realm of the dead.” It stands to reason that the Ancient Egyptians were affected by their religious beliefs, in addition to more logical and utilitarian considerations.
