The pyramids, which were once the tombs of the richest pharaohs and housed all of their earthly belongings, are now utterly empty. None of the remarkable and magnificent artifacts that previously decorated the interiors have survived. They were all stolen by tomb robbers or museums and art institutes. The Egyptian pyramids were supposed to contain a curse that would smite anyone who attempted to remove anything from the tombs, but that hasn’t stopped hundreds of visitors from raiding the ancient treasures throughout the years.

The construction of these massive pyramids was one of the factors that helped Ancient Egypt establish itself as one of the world’s first superpowers. They grew their economy by taxing more people and growing and selling items in order to develop them. They traded with numerous countries and partnered with others to obtain the resources needed create the pyramids. We knew the pyramids were important to Ancient Egypt’s power and riches, but we didn’t know the secrets of their construction until today.
